ABOUT HENRY B. SAWYER, JR. '32

The life of Henry B. Sawyer, Jr. stands as the physical embodiment of the statement of purpose of Belmont Hill School. The way Mr. Sawyer lived each day of his life represents the best example of those moral and intellectual values the School seeks to develop in its students. Personal integrity, sensitivity toward others, intellectual curiosity, self-sacrifice, sound reasoning, respect for others, sportsmanship, and a sense of responsibility toward the quality of life in the community were more than abstract concepts to Mr. Sawyer; they were a way of life and remain the mileposts of a life of quality, serenity, contribution, and meaning Belmont Hill strives toward for its students.
