Recent events calling attention to racial injustice across the nation and closer to home have galvanized our school community to undertake a closer examination of the experiences of our students of color. Belmont Hill alumni and current students have opened the dialogue through letters to the School, social media posts, and conversations with the Head of School and others.

Mr. Schneider and Mr. Collins discuss with parents what action steps Belmont Hill has taken and what lies ahead for our school community. We are committed to an ongoing process of discovery and change and hope our parent community will join us in these essential conversations.

How to Report an Absence, Late Arrival, Early Departure, or Illness

All notifications should come through the Health Office via email or phone. Attendance is tracked through the Health Center

  • If your son is arriving late, or leaving early, please send an email to and also state the reason, such as dentist appt. or routine physical, or follow up orthopedic appt. etc.
  • If your son will be absent due to illness, call the health office at 617-993-5335, where you can leave a message 24/7 or email Either way, please state the nature of the illness such as any symptoms displayed, and the onset of those symptoms. A follow up conversation by phone will be made as to next steps.
  • If your son will be traveling out of state for any reason, contact the Health Office. Again, you can either call or email, but this, too, will likely require a conversation.
  • Please note that if your son moves to remote learning, we will be asking him to notify his teachers in advance, or as much in advance as possible, so the teachers can send out the Zoom link.
