AN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL FOR BOYS GRADES 7-12

Carl Dawson '72 Delivers a Powerful Address in Chapel

Distinguished Alumni Award recipient and Belmont Hill’s first African American alumnus, Carl Dawson ‘72 delivered a powerful address to the boys on Tuesday.

Mr. Dawson, along with two other boys, first integrated Belmont Hill in 1968.  He told an insightful story of his experiences at that time, noting it was not an easy transition for him or for the School.  He said one of the most important lessons he learned at Belmont Hill was to look beyond differences with his fellow students, and to look for commonalities.
