Two Belmont Hill Alumni Named to U.S. National Rowing Team

The U.S. National Rowing Team was announced earlier this week and included two Belmont Hill alumni: Andrew Reed '10 and Alexander Richards '14.
They will compete in the World Championships in Sarasota, Florida in late September.

Reed, who rowed at Harvard, will compete in the men's eight. "It's a great opportunity to represent Belmont Hill and the country on the world rowing stage," Reed notes. "It is the first national team I have made and it means a lot to me after years of hard work." Meanwhile Richards, who also rowed at Harvard, will compete in the men's four. "I am really excited to represent the United States at the World Championships this year," Richards states. "It has been a goal of mine since I began rowing as a seventh grader at Belmont Hill and I’m thankful to everyone who has helped me along the way." You can read more about the announcement through this link.

"It is really exciting to see two Belmont Hill guys make the Senior National Team, especially following on Mike DiSanto's success in the Rio 8+ last summer," says Coach Chris Richards. "It is a young team overall, and I think the guys are eager to see how they stack up against the best crews in the world in Sarasota in late September."
