"A Raisin in the Sun": 2/8-9 @ 7pm

"A Raisin in the Sun" is the story of an African-American family, the Youngers, from Chicago’s Southside, and their pursuit of the American Dream -- home-ownership. This groundbreaking story takes on themes of family dynamics, black culture, and the systemic racism of the early 1950s. It opened on Broadway in 1959, was made into a film starring Sidney Poitier in 1961, and most recently won a Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play in 2014 in the New York production featuring Denzel Washington
