Colombian journalist María Antonia García de la Torre spoke at a recent chapel, giving students a vivid picture of life in this beautiful but turbulent country.
She spoke of her deep love for her country, but also outlined the challenges she faces as a journalist in a political and cultural environment where writing the truth can put one in great peril. Please follow this link for a brief video clip from her talk.

Ms. García de la Torre writes for El Tiempo, a major Bogotá daily newspaper, and is very active with Twitter, amassing tens of thousands followers. She is currently working on her PhD at the University of Nebraska (Lincoln).
