Brian Lee '24 Accepted into Northeastern District Senior Festival

Every November, a group of Belmont Hill School musicians auditions for the Northeastern District Senior Music Festival.

From this audition, judges from the Massachusetts Music Educators Association select musicians to form four all-star ensembles. Third Form cellist Brian Lee was selected for the Senior District Orchestra this year. Although the District will not be holding an in-person District festival due to COVID-19, Brian received the additional honor of being granted an All-State recommendation, which means that he will have the opportunity to audition for the All-State virtual festival this spring.
Brian plays cello in Belmont Hill's school orchestra and has performed at many of our concerts and recitals in his time at Belmont Hill.
Earlier this fall, Brian won first place in the intermediate category of the American Protégé International Competition of Romantic Music 2020.  The competition is open to instrumentalists of all nationalities and countries. Participants are required to submit video recording materials for the audition.  Applicants represented nine countries: the United States, Canada, Costa Rica, Bulgaria, China, South Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, and Australia. Brian played Elgar's cello concerto. In the video above, please enjoy listening to Brian's amazing playing.
