Brian Lee '24 Takes First Place in American Protégé International Competition of Romantic Music

Brian Lee '24 recently won first place in the intermediate category of the American Protégé International Competition of Romantic Music 2020.  The competition is open to instrumentalists of all nationalities and countries. Participants are required to submit video recording materials for the audition.  Applicants represented nine countries: the United States, Canada, Costa Rica, Bulgaria, China, South Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, and Australia. Brian played Elgar's cello concerto.

"I took this past summer as a chance to make a recording of a piece on the cello for auditions and competitions, and the American Protégé International Competition of Romantic Music happened to be one of the competitions that accepted video recordings due to the pandemic," Brian explained. "I felt very fortunate to have won first place and, as well, that I had the opportunity to compete even in the midst of a pandemic."
