Head of School Delivers an Emotional Welcome Back to Students on First Day of Classes

Every year at Belmont Hill, the Head of School addresses the boys in Hamilton Chapel on the first day of classes, and it is always a happy time as the promise of a new school year begins.

But this year felt different. Yes, the boys could not all gather in the chapel due to COVID-19 restrictions and had to instead watch as Mr. Schneider spoke via live stream. But there was a profoundly emotional tone to Mr. Schneider's speech as he clearly seemed moved by having the boys all back on campus together again. In a talk that provided sage words of guidance regarding the ongoing pandemic and the issues of racial injustice that are so prominent in our country, Mr. Schneider seemed touched to have this opportunity to gather once again as a school, even in a virtual setting.

"It has been a challenging time to find hope," he said, "although I certainly feel it today with all of us on campus together."

You can enjoy Mr. Schneider's entire speech in the video above.
