AN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL FOR BOYS GRADES 7-12

93rd Commencement Honors Class of 2019

Glorious blue skies and a brisk wind greeted the Class of 2019 at Belmont Hill’s recent Commencement ceremony. The ceremony was held under a large tent where families and friends gathered to watch the festivities.
Jon Biotti '87, Board of Trustees President, began with a warm welcome and some words of wisdom for the graduates. Then it was class president Shane Rockett greeting his classmates in a stellar address followed by music from the B-Flats.

In his first Commencement at Belmont Hill, Greg Schneider, Ronald M. Druker ’62 Head of School, told the boys, “I can say with extreme confidence that you are one of the finest senior classes I have had the pleasure of working with in nearly 25 years in schools and twelve years as a Head of School,” he stated. “Beyond the many ways in which you have welcomed me personally, I have been inspired by your commitment, your humor, and your grit. I could not imagine being brought into the culture and ethos of Belmont Hill by a more impressive group of young men.”

The featured speaker, David E. Kelley ’75, distinguished writer and producer of many award-winning television shows began by reminiscing about his days on the Hill. In a speech mixed with humor and heartfelt emotion, Mr. Kelley told the boys, “I still believe that our hope derives from our humanity. So, when I say to you today, drill down on yourselves, look within, look deep within, it’s really not so much a piece of advice but rather a plea. Because our country’s best hope, maybe our only hope, is for its citizenry to reconnect with its humanity, its compassion, its kindness. And if you guys look within yourselves and you dig down and tap into that humanity, if you feel it, you live it, and you touch those around you with it, that’s a good start.”

Prize Day, held May 30th, celebrated the accomplishments of students in all Forms and also recognized faculty and staff for milestone anniversaries in their work for the School.
