The Program
The team has won the ISL Dual Meet 17 times (recent wins include 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2022); 18 Graves Kelsey Championships (recent wins include 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2023); and New England Championships in 2007, 2009, 2016, 2018, 2019, and 2020.
The Coach
Don Bradley has coached varsity wrestling since 1989 and has built one of the strongest programs in the country. In 2006, Don was named Coach of the Year for New England Independent Schools. Several of Coach Bradley’s wrestlers have gone on to wrestle in college. Mr. Bradley is Director of the Upper School and a teacher of history.

Meet the Coaches

Head Coach
Mr. Bradley is Director of the Upper School and has been at Belmont Hill since 1987. He teaches European History AP, and History 1. Mr. Bradley is also head coach of the Varsity Wrestling team. Mr. Bradley currently holds the Centennial Chair in History, established in 2018 by an anonymous Belmont Hill family to honor a faculty member for excellence in the teaching of history, and for inspiring a spirit of open inquiry, good citizenship, and greater understanding of our world.

Dr. Davis joined the Belmont Hill faculty in 2014 and is the Chair of the Classics Department. He teaches Latin Gamma A, Latin 3A, Greek, and History 1. He also coaches Middle School football and Varsity wrestling and Head Form Advisor for Form IV.

Mr. Kaplan is the head of the Arts Department and an alumnus of Belmont Hill (Class of '83). He has been teaching at Belmont Hill since 1994. He teaches Form I Art, Woodworking, and Advanced Woodworking. He is also the Director of Summer School. Mr. Kaplan is a coach of the Fifth Football team and an assistant coach for the Varsity Wrestling team.

Mr. Leonardis joined Belmont Hill's faculty in 2008. He teaches English 2, English 3, American Literature, Non-Fiction Writing, and the inquiry course, God Man, and Myth. Mr. Leonardis holds the Maggie and John Ryan Family Teacher/Coach Chair, established in 2017 in memory of Maggie and John Ryan by the Ryan family—Ann, Tony, Matthew ’14, William ’17, and Thomas ’19. This chair honors a faculty member who exemplifies an ideal embraced by the School since its founding: excellence as both a teacher and a coach.
In addition, Mr. Leonardis coaches Third Soccer, Varsity Wrestling, and Third Wrestling. -
Mr. Ryan returns to Belmont Hill as a one-year interim teaching fellow, where he will teach three classes, coach, and advise students. After completing his degree at Columbia University and graduating in May 2021 with a B.S. in Computer Engineering and a minor in Music Theory, Mr. Ryan will also contribute to Belmont Hill’s emerging robotics and STEAM programs using his proficiency in coding in C, Python, Java, and Verilog HDL. At Columbia University, he was a member of the Heavyweight Division 1 rowing team and also made the Dean’s List.

Mr. Sullivan joined Belmont Hill's faculty in 2019. After graduating from Belmont Hill in 2007, he attended Williams College where he majored in Political Science. He spent a summer at the London School of Economics where he studied in its finance program. Mr. Sullivan comes to Belmont Hill from The Pingry School, where he taught financial literacy before he transitioned to a grade seven history teacher. In this role, he developed a curriculum based on student-centered, discussion-based learning, citizenship, and historical thinking. Mr. Sullivan teaches U.S. History, Economics, and Government and coaches Middle School and Varsity Wrestling.

Mr. Williams comes to Belmont Hill from the Brunswick School in Greenwich, CT, where he taught Upper School history. Mr. Williams is a member of the History Department, a football and wrestling coach, and an advisor. While at Middlebury, he was the captain of the varsity football team. In addition to his teaching experience at the Brunswick School, he also taught English while studying abroad and held numerous positions during summers as a group leader and counselor at various summer camp programs.
