Boarding at Belmont Hill

Students in Belmont Hill's five-day boarding program enjoy the opportunity to live independently with fellow students from diverse backgrounds while still enjoying the comfort of spending weekends at home. Boarders normally leave school Friday afternoon and return either Sunday night or Monday morning. The School does not have provisions for seven-day boarders. Students who do not live within reasonable commuting distance, and those who thrive in an environment in which they can focus more closely on school, benefit most from this program. Speare House and Underwood House provide single- and double-room accommodations for up to 27 five-day boarding students, typically in grades 9 through 12.

The boarding program provides a structured environment for students, while instilling personal responsibility. Each evening there are faculty-supervised study hours from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, and a nightly curfew. During free time, boarders have access to many campus facilities. Each day they enjoy cafeteria-style breakfasts and family-style evening dinners, all run by members of the boarding faculty.

Dorm parents work to develop strong relationships with the boarders and are always willing to listen or offer advice on academic or personal matters. The dorm parents also stay in close contact with the boarders’ parents.
