Students will explore three of China’s most famous ancient capitals: Beijing, Xi’an, and Chengdu. In and around Beijing, we will visit Tian’anmen Square and the Forbidden City, participate in traditional Chinese cultural workshops in local courtyard homes, go shopping, visit Lama Temple, and experience Chinese hospitality while enjoying a home-style dinner with an SYA China host family. Outside of Beijing we will have a chance to hike to the Jinshanling Great-Wall and try our hand at farm labor in Hexi Village. In Xi’an we will visit the massive and silent army of 3rd-century Terracotta Warriors, bike on the ancient city wall, and explore the ancient Muslim quarter and the mosque. Our final stop is Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, known for its spicy food, unique lifestyle, and China's 'national treasure' - the giant panda. We will explore the old neighborhood, see the famous face-changing show, and visit the panda breeding base. Please join us in March 2020 for a journey of a lifetime; China isn’t just a country–it is a whole different world!
