Visual Arts Awards Honor Student Work

Visual Arts Awards Honor Student Work

On February 10, Chair of the Visual Arts Dan Duarte addressed the School community to reveal the First Semester Visual Arts Awards. The awards Chapel came on the heels of the First Semester Art Show which opened in the Landau Gallery in January and showcases work from Ceramics, Drawing & Painting, Photography, and Woodworking.

“The Art Show represents a great deal of effort, a lot of vulnerability, and a lot of chance taking,” Mr. Duarte said, highlighting how many of the students whose work is featured in the show were working with these mediums for the first time.

The projects displayed in Landau Gallery and honored with awards are representative of the students’ commitment and growth. “It takes a lot to try something new, to fail,” Mr. Duarte said. “In our building, failure is an integral part of what we do.”
