School President Opening Chapel: The Enduring Bonds of Community
Continuing a longstanding Belmont Hill tradition, the Form VI school president delivered an opening address in Hamilton Chapel. For Charlie Rubel ’27, it was a chance to formally begin his time as student body leader and set the tone for the promising school year ahead.

Greg Schneider, Ronald M. Druker ‘62 Head of School, provided Charlie’s introduction and celebrated his attitude, work ethic, and contagious sense of gratitude. “This is somebody who comes to campus with a smile on his face every day, who’s ready to dive into everything about Belmont Hill,” Mr. Schneider said. “Perhaps more than anything, it’s so obvious how much he loves the School.”

That appreciation was on full display in his remarks, as Charlie used his time behind the podium as an opportunity to celebrate the deep sense of community fostered on campus.

“Belmont Hill creates bonds that are more than a friendship at school. We create bonds that go deeper and last longer,” Charlie shared. “These shared experiences, both good and bad, create our community and make our school such a special place.”

While Charlie acknowledged that every student from first formers to seniors will face changes this year, he reminded them that their peers will rise to the occasion to support one another.

“As we look at the broader picture of our journey here, I think we will realize that it wasn’t a single experience that created the community we love. It was that we experienced everything together, creating a community I look forward to seeing every morning,” Charlie said. “It has been, and will always be, a place you can call home, with 470 brothers one call away, no matter your situation.”
