Recent Graduates Continue to Achieve Academic Excellence
George Holderness and Alex Haigh, members of the Belmont Hill Class of 2014, have graduated from Stanford University with the Phi Beta Kappa honors distinction.
George completed the honors program in economics and was awarded the Anna Laura Myers Prize for Outstanding Honors Thesis at commencement. Alex majored in computer science and was recognized with a Terman Award. The Frederick Emmons Terman Engineering Scholastic Award is presented to the top five percent of each year's undergraduate senior engineering class.
Both were also awarded the President's Award for Academic Excellence at the end of their freshman year. This is awarded to approximately three percent of the freshman class for the rigor of their classes and their grades.
George is now living in San Francisco and working for Thumbtack, a mature startup. Alex is continuing at Stanford to pursue a master’s degree.

On February 10, Chair of the Visual Arts Dan Duarte addressed the School community to reveal the First Semester Visual Arts Awards. The awards Chapel came on the heels of the First Semester Art Show which opened in the Landau Gallery in January and showcases work from Ceramics, Drawing & Painting, Photography, and Woodworking.

On February 6 and 7, actors from Belmont Hill and Winsor showed their range in the Kraft Theater with two lively performances of Eight Plays But Who’s Counting?, a series of poignant and hilarious one-acts. Open to actors of all grade levels and touching on a variety of genres, the show brought together students with a range of experience, from advanced actors in their thirteenth production to those in their debut performance.

On February 4, parents of boys across all grade levels had the opportunity to hear the strategic thinking behind Belmont Hill’s approach to A.I. from a panel of faculty members representing different departments and aspects of school life. The speakers reviewed the formal policies regarding A.I. use for faculty and students, and explained the data and mission driven thinking that guided their development.

On February 5, 2026, Belmont Hill proudly welcomed Anthony Ray Hinton to campus for a deeply moving and inspirational School Meeting. Mr. Hinton shared his story of surviving for 30 years on Alabama's Death Row following a wrongful conviction and the decades-long journey to his exoneration and freedom.

Former Belmont Hill football standout Jake Bobo ’18 will be competing in Super Bowl LX on Sunday, February 8, 2026 for the Seattle Seahawks. The NFL wide receiver was a three time All-ISL First Team honoree while playing on the Hill and caught a critical touchdown pass for the Seahawks during their NFC Championship victory on Sunday, January 25, 2026.
