Nine Students Recognized with Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

Congratulations to this year’s Scholastic Art and Writing Award winners. Four of the nine students had two pieces recognized, yielding 14 awards in total. Categories included ceramics, photography, drawing and illustration, short story writing, and poetry. The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards is the nation's longest-running, largest, most prestigious recognition program for students in grades 7 through 12  in the visual and literary arts. The School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA) at Tufts serves as the Massachusetts regional affiliate for the Awards, which are sponsored by the Boston Globe Foundation. In Massachusetts this year, 8,609 submissions were received. More than 100 regional affiliates throughout the country run the Awards in their local communities.

About the 2021 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

A virtual exhibition will be mounted for the 2021 Gold Keys in Spring 2021. The Boston Globe will also publish a list of the Silver Key and Gold Key winners in March. 
 

Gold Key works automatically advance to national judging. In New York City, renowned creative professionals review Gold Key works from across the country. Jurors select work for national recognition based on three criteria: originality, technical skill, and emergence of a personal vision or voice. National Awards will be announced on March 17, 2021 at artandwriting.org.


For the state of Massachusetts, 8,609 submissions were received.
