Landau Gallery Exhibit Features Faculty Member Suzanne Kaplan

Art department faculty member Suzanne Kaplan’s work can be seen in the Landau Gallery of the E. Paul Robsham Jr. Memorial Center for the Arts. The show titled “Compositions from Nature” includes sculptures, mono prints, and bowls. Mrs. Kaplan created the work over the summer, inspired by objects she’s collected on nature walks through the years - she even included a shelf full of the objects in the show. Her sculptural planters take center stage while totems and textured clay “pods” fill the space. Kaplan states, “I’ve always enjoyed spending time outside and growing up in New Hampshire I worked summers as a nature guide on Mt. Monadnock. Now I spend as much time as I can in the garden and I was very excited to pursue this type of work.” The opening reception for the exhibit is Friday, September 13 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. The exhibit is on display until September 28. The gallery is open school days; Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 9:00 am to 4:45 pm and Wednesday and Friday until 3:00 pm.

Mrs. Kaplan joined Belmont Hill's faculty in 2012. She teaches Ceramics, Form I Visual Arts, Drawing and Painting, and Form II Design. She also designs and constructs the sets for all Belmont Hill Performing Arts productions. In addition, she is a Form I Advisor and Director of the Landau Gallery. She received her B.A. in Art from Salve Regina and her MFA from Rochester Institute of Technology’s School for American Crafts.
