Lacrosse Alumni Capture DI and DIII National Championships

While the Belmont Hill lacrosse season is over, the program was represented across the college championship weekend as three Belmont Hill alumni led their teams to national titles. In Division I, Finn Fox ’24 was a part of the Princeton team that defeated Notre Dame 16-9 and captured the school’s first championship since 2001. Ethan O’Neill '22 and Luke Theberge '23 helped bring Tufts its third straight Division III title in their win over Rochester Institute of Technology. In the first period, Ethan scored a goal that gave Tufts their first lead of the game which they would go on to win 17-11.

“I am really proud of all of these guys and their teams,” said Head Varsity Lacrosse Coach Tim Sullivan. “To reach the highest level in their sport by playing in the NCAA tournament and then to contribute to their teams’ quest to win a championship reflects their hard work and dedication.”

While at Belmont Hill, all three were key contributors to incredible seasons for the program. While there was no formal ISL Championship in 2021, Finn, Luke, and Ethan featured on a team that went undefeated in the league. Finn would go on to capture an ISL Championship in his senior year.

Even though it's been years since these three played in a Belmont Hill uniform for Coach Sullivan, pride in seeing his players succeed never fades. “As a coach, it was a very rewarding moment to watch Finn, Luke, and Ethan celebrating their championships on the field.”
