Justin Li ’26 Breaks School Record in 110m Hurdles

Justin Li ’26 Breaks School Record in 110m Hurdles
As part of the varsity track team’s remarkable championship season, Justin Li ’26 set a new school record for the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.88, marking the second occasion he has broken this particular record.

“Justin has trained thoughtfully and assiduously for several seasons now, honing his hurdling technique while also striving to improve his speed,” said Varsity Track and Field Head Coach Adam Harder. “The success he's had over the last two seasons is a testament to a razor-sharp and analytical focus on the events, and a competitive desire to improve and to run faster than the athletes in the other lanes in the event.”

Assistant Coach Jake DeCaprio ’16 noted how it was Justin’s constant dedication and determination that enabled him to further improve in an event where he already held the program’s best time. “It was truly exciting to watch him focus on making minor adjustments each week to shave hundredths of seconds off his time with each performance.”

Like everything in track and field, so much of Justin’s record breaking season came down to timing. “I am so happy for him that he peaked at the right time,” Coach Harder said. “First in the ISL championship meet and a week later at the D1 New England meet.”

While Justin excelled in the 110m hurdles, Coach Harder shared the countless ways he contributed during the biggest moments of the season. “He has been a strong captain for our team this year, and also competed for us in the 4 x 100m relay squad. In addition, when we needed him to step up at the ISL’s, he ran a leg in the 4 x 400m race that clinched this year's title for us.” While Justin’s performance in the hurdles has altered the Belmont Hill record books, it was perhaps that leadership and willingness to do everything he could for the team that made the most lasting impact.
