Fall Woodbury Finals Remind us to Live in the Moment

The fall installment of the biannual Upper School speaking contest, The Woodbury’s, wrapped up on November 12. The public speaking experience features short speeches crafted by students and delivered in front of the school in the Hamilton Chapel. A panel of faculty judges score the speeches on the strength of the delivery and the theme and organization of the content.

The semifinalists were Josh Houston-Davis ‘23, Luca Mezzanotte ’23, and Nate Voss ’24. The finalists were Jack Abbrecht ’23 and David Carter ’22. Congratulations to Cam Connell ’23 on being named the winner. (Pictured above from left to right: Connell, Abbrecht, and Carter).

“What do you miss when you refuse to live in the moment regardless of how stressful and difficult that moment might be?” asked Cam Connell. He told us the pandemic made him appreciate living in the moment. You can see his speech in the video below.
