Drones Team Finishes Second at National Championships
On May 13 and 14, the Belmont Hill Drones Team finished in second place at the Drones in School High School National Championships held in Detroit, Michigan. It’s an incredible moment for the team of sixth formers Jayden Chen, Boston Ezedi, Noah Gleason, Mason Iandiorio, Nicky Jones, Brody Lindstrom-Chalpin, and Jai Somani who have competed together for four years.

Reflecting on the weekend’s accomplishments, Director of Makerspace Matt Ziff highlighted the impact of this senior group. “I am so proud of the team's work, not only this year, but over the last four years, they have competed as a team,” Mr. Ziff said. “They have shown tremendous growth and left a lasting mark on the Bolles Makerspace. Their leadership and curiosity will be missed, and I know they will be successful in their college journeys!”

As part of their incredible performance at the National Championships, the team placed 2nd in the Capture the Flag Competition and ranked among the top teams in each of the other aspects of the competition. The group also won the coveted "Diamond Award," given for "meticulous video editing, outstanding use of color/branding through all aspects of the team, and overall refinement that creates a professional and polished look."

As part of the weekend, Belmont Hill Drones Team 2 of Adrian Chen ’28, Sean Park ’28, Suhas Kaniyar ’28, Ilan Turevskiy ’28, and Miles Olmeda ’29 also competed admirably. The team won the Video Presentation Champion for their team's Marketing Video, ending their season on a well-earned high note.
