Drones Team Accepts Bid to National Championship Race

Drones Team Accepts Bid to National Championship Race

After a sterling season, the Belmont Hill Drones Team will be competing at the 2025 National Championship Race in Houston in May for the fourth time in the program’s history.

With a roster featuring Jayden Chen, Boston Ezedi, Noah Gleason, Mason Iandiorio, Nick Jones, Brody Lindstrom-Chalpin, and Jai Somani, the drones team is made up entirely of Form IV boys who have competed together since their freshman year. Head coach Matt Ziff has seen how far the group has come in that time. “I’ve enjoyed working with the boys this year and seeing how much they’ve grown over their drone team experience the last three seasons,” Mr. Ziff said. “I’m really looking forward to watching them perform at the National Championship Race.”

The season consisted of simulator and virtual races. In the four simulator races, the team took first place in three of them. Ezedi and Lindstrom-Chalpin led the way as the team pilots and in two of those races, won by a significant margin: over half a lap. They’ll look to continue that form on the big stage in Houston.

While the team makes preparations for the National Championship, the program also looks to the future as it hopes to find the next generation of drone pilots. Interested students can talk to Mr. Ziff to learn more.
