Class President Luke Travaglini ‘24 Addresses Classmates in Chapel
Carrying on a longtime Belmont Hill tradition, Luke Travaglini ‘24 addressed his classmates in Chapel on September 18, 2023, delivering an insightful, poignant, and reflective speech with great poise. Luke began with a story that captured the essence of savoring the “little moments” that occur every day at Belmont Hill and make it such a special place. “At Belmont Hill, each and every one of us leads a busy life, full of meeting deadlines, participating in athletics, and engaging in the community in countless different ways,” he explained. “Because of the rigor of our daily schedules, it is easy to lose the appreciation for the little moments that occur throughout: the joke told by a friend in passing, the support received on a hard day, or simply someone asking you about your weekend. I believe that Belmont Hill is a school completely rooted in these moments. And without them, the brotherhood that we so pride ourselves on would be nonexistent.”
Luke went on to encourage his classmates to take full advantage of all the School has to offer and to become engaged in all aspects of school life. He also touched upon many examples of how Belmont Hill inspires him every day and how fortunate he feels to be a part of this community. “Maya Angelou famously said, ‘At the end of the day, people won't remember what you said or did, they will remember how you made them feel.’ That, in essence, is what Belmont Hill is about. It is a fabric woven together by the little moments that we create and experience for and with one another. So I will leave you with this: In the coming months, I urge you to not only help create these moments, but to cherish them.”
