Belmont Hill Students Perform at Prestigious Music Festivals

This past weekend, while many were wrapping up spring break, two Belmont Hill students were busy making music. Harry Liu ’27 (cello) and Zachary Park ’28 participated in the All-State Festival—Harry in the Orchestra and Zachary in the Chorus.

After a full day of rehearsals in Worcester on Friday, both performed on Saturday afternoon in Boston’s renowned Symphony Hall. The All-State Chorus, conducted by Dr. Julie Yu, performed an eclectic program featuring works by Willametta Spencer, Giuseppe Verdi, and Kyle Pederson. The Orchestra, under the direction of Sarah Ionnides, played selections by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Florence Price, a groundbreaking 20th-century African-American composer.

In other recent music news, Suhas Kaniyar ’28 was selected for the Junior District Orchestra earlier in March. After three rigorous days of rehearsals, Suhas performed in a dynamic concert at Galvin Middle School in Wakefield on Saturday, March 15.

Congratulations to Harry, Zachary, and Suhas on these outstanding accomplishments!
