Belmont Hill Musicians Celebrate Jazz Night

Belmont Hill Musicians Celebrate Jazz Night
On April 25, the Belmont Hill music community gathered in the Wadsworth room for the annual Jazz Night event. Surrounded by friends, flowers, and barbecue, the crowd enjoyed rousing performances by the two large jazz ensembles and two featured vocal soloists.

The Upper School Jazz Band started and closed out the night with their bookend sets, which featured a wide variety of swing, Latin, and jazz fusion selections. Second in the line-up was the Middle School Jazz Band, performing three numbers by Juan Tizol (trombonist for Duke Ellington’s orchestra), Stevie Wonder, and Henry Mancini, the famous trumpeter who wrote the theme for The Pink Panther. Before the Upper School Band returned to the stage to close out the night, Zachary Park ’28 and Riley Marth ’27 treated the audience to a set of incredible jazz vocal features.

These musicians will be part of the final performance of the school year during the upcoming Spring Concert on Tuesday, May 12th at 6pm, in the Hamilton Chapel.
