    African American Studies Trip to NYC

    Mr. Zellner's African American Studies class are headed to NYC for an overnight trip leaving after school on Monday, miss classes on Tuesday, and return Tuesday night.

    Non-perishables should be brought in by Monday, November 12thand Tuesday, November 13th, as the students begin sorting items that week.

    Boxes for these items will be around campus, including advisor homerooms as well as health office.

    • FORM I: canned cranberry sauce, canned yams 
    • FORM II: stuffing mix, packaged or canned gravy 
    • FORM III: all-purpose potatoes (for mashing) 
    • FORM IV: canned yams, canned vegetables 
    • FORM V: stuffing mix, canned vegetables
    • FORM VI: canned cranberry sauce, packaged or canned gravy

    ALL FORMS: * frozen turkeys in assorted sizes * 8-14 pounds
    * frozen turkey breasts   * whipped cream
     
    Frozen turkeys, frozen turkey breasts, and whipped cream can be dropped off at the Sodexo Trailer (near athletic fields) in the Jordan parking lot, between Tuesday, November 13th and Friday, November 16th.
     
     
    Note: Pumpkin pies are donated by Sodexo, as is the freezer/trailer unit to hold everything.
    How can you be involved, in addition to donating food items?

    Parent volunteers are needed from all Forms to help with the following and you can contact our Parent Volunteer Coordinator – Liz Greenwood at lizgreenwood@verizon.net to sign up:
    • Help sort food items on Saturday morning, November 17th, from 10 am. to 1pm or any portion of that time. Families welcome!
    • Assist with last minute sorting before the food goes out for delivery on Monday, November 19th, 8 am – 2pm (in MacPherson, on freezer truck, and outside by connecting right boxes with correct car delivery)
    • Help deliver turkeys on Monday, November 19th, beginning 10:30 a.m. and throughout that day. Form III students have only first two classes and then are free to work on turkey project!
