Belmont Hill Students Perform at New England Conservatory
7/29/2010
Two Belmont Hill students, Konrad Hedderick and Robert Sayegh, recently took part in the Festival Youth Orchestra program at New England Conservatory. The FYO program was an intensive three-week orchestra that was composed of over 90 people across the different sections (Winds, Brass, Percussion, and Strings). It ran from from 9:00am to 3:30pm each day with a three-hour orchestra rehearsal in the morning, a one-and-a-half hour chamber group rehearsal, and another one-hour orchestra rehearsal in the afternoon.
The repertoire consisted of the Brahms Academic Festival Overture, The Saint-Saens Bacchanale from Samson and Dalila, The Bruch Romance for Viola and Orchestra, all four movements of Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade, and an encore called Bongo Bulgarita, an original by the conductor, Aaron Kula. The concert took place at NEC's Jordan Hall.
