Another Successful Blood Drive on the Hill

3/9/2010
On March 9, Belmont Hill School and the American Red Cross once again teamed up for a successful blood drive at Belmont Hill. The blood drive was organized by Matt Canavan-Palermo '10, with help from a number of other students and under the guidance of teacher Chris Sweeney '83.

School nurse and director of community service Donna David stressed, "We have to realize that every drive makes a difference in the lives of others. It's about giving of oneself--such as those who donate, those who help put together and run the drive--and those who volunteer the day of the drive. Matt's mother and father volunteered for the entire day.

Student Hib Schenck spoke to his fellow students at lunch the day of the drive, expressing his appreciation for their efforts. "I would like to extend a special thanks to all of you who gave blood today or helped at the blood drive," Hib said. "As someone who has received transfusions, and speaking on behalf of others who have had transfusions--thank you. You really don't know how much you are helping."
