Jeff Ott Wins National Championship as Wrestling Wraps Stong Season

The Belmont Hill wrestling team concluded a strong season by traveling to Lehigh University in Pennsylvania to compete in the National Prep School Wrestling Championships. The team finished with two All-Americans and a national champion in Jeff Ott.

Wrestling in the New England Championships last weekend, 11 boys qualified for the nationals: Pranay Bose, Andrew Raftery, Cam Scari, Jeff Ott, Jordan Gorelick, Matt Ricotta, HT Kotchinian, Nick Ogonowsky, Paul Shea, Peter Bolte, and Kevin Travaline. The boys traveled to Lehigh on Thursday and competed Friday and Saturday. They finished 13th out of 97 competing schools, the team's best performance ever in this competition. HT Kotchinian (who finished 7th) and Jeff Ott won All American status, and Ott became Belmont Hill's first ever national champion, winning a thrilling overtime match 4-2.  To see as video of Jeff Ott's win, please follow this link.
