Beginning the Process The Belmont Hill admission process begins by placing a call to our Admission Office (617-993-5220) and requesting an admissions packet, which includes both a viewbook and an application. During your conversation with our admission representatives you will be asked for some basic information about your son and your family so that we can send out our materials as quickly as possible. You may also request information online.
Tour and Interview During the fall and winter months all applicants are required to visit Belmont Hill for an interview and campus tour. Interviews are scheduled Monday through Friday, and you can make an appointment simply by calling our Admission Office (617-993-5220). As your family tours Belmont Hill with one of our admission officers, you will witness the energy and enthusiasm of the Belmont Hill community in action. In addition to seeing our newly renovated classroom spaces, music and athletic centers, and our steeped-in-tradition dining hall, your family will have a chance to see a dedicated and dynamic faculty hard at work in the craft of teaching. Our goal by the end of your tour is for your family to have a feel for what student life is actually life here on "the Hill." After the tour, both the applicant and his parent(s) will have a chance to meet with an admission officer. Here the applicant will have a chance to talk about his interests and passions, and ask any questions about our school community. Similarly, the parent(s) will also get the chance to "interview" and ask us any relevant questions about Belmont Hill School. Our hope is that in talking with our admission representatives your family will receive all of the necessary information to make an educated choice on whether or not Belmont Hill School is the right match for your son.
Standardized Tests All applicants for the seventh and eighth grade (Forms I and II) are expected to take the Independent School Entrance Exam or ISEE. Similarly, all applicants for the ninth grade (Form III) and our Upper School (Forms IV and V) are expected to take the Secondary School Admission Test or SSAT. These tests are held both here at Belmont Hill School, and at various test sites around Massachusetts. While registration booklets for these tests will be included in your application packet, you can also sign up online by visiting the websites listed to the right.
Written Application In addition to the on-campus interview and standardized testing, all applicants are required to submit a written application. All application materials are due by February 1. While you will receive an application with your inquiry, please feel free to download our application forms by clicking on the appropriate listings to the right.
