Listen to a podcast with Steve Carr, Director of Admission.
Thank you for your interest in Belmont Hill School. As the new Director of Admission and a graduate of Belmont Hill, it is a pleasure to welcome you to this community. Since the School’s founding in 1923, the mission of the School has remained consistent and constant. Here at Belmont Hill we are committed to providing a challenging and supportive environment dedicated to the individual and collective growth of boys in mind, body and spirit. We seek to enroll students who strive for excellence in and out of the classroom and who will enrich our community with their interests, integrity and strength of character. Belmont Hill boys are distinctive and uncommon: they stand out in their respective towns as engaged students, citizens and leaders. They are marked by their good work as well as their good deeds. And they actively seek a place where they can continue to grow as scholars, athletes, artists, performers, service leaders and, most importantly, positive young men of character.
Belmont Hill is a selective and special place, but it is also a warm, friendly and inclusive place. As an admission office, we actively seek students from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences. We welcome and value differences and diversity on this campus and seek to attract young men who are open to and inclusive of varying perspectives. The Belmont Hill of today is invested in educating young men to be change agents in the multicultural world in which we live. As a school community we take this responsibility seriously, without losing sight of the excitement and joy that accompanies such an educational opportunity.
As an admission office we are committed to enrolling the best boys in the metropolitan Boston area. And we are committed to this end regardless of a family’s ability to pay the cost of tuition here. Currently almost 30% of Belmont Hill boys receive financial assistance; in 2010-2011 Belmont Hill’s financial aid budget is just north of $3.2 million. Belmont Hill understands the financial reality of enrolling a student in a competitive independent school. As an institution, this school remains steadfast in its dedication to financial aid and seeks to ensure that families have the support required to make their school decisions based on fit rather than finances. We welcome any and all financial aid inquires and encourage families with questions to visit the financial aid section of the website or contact C.J.Hacker, Director of Financial Aid, directly at 617-993-5244.
As a community we thank you for your interest in Belmont Hill. Personally, I welcome the chance to connect with you and to help you navigate the important school decision process in front of you. To that end, I encourage you to start by exploring our website and learning more about the admission process, our curriculum, and the wonderful community on this campus. Then, please contact the Office of Admission (617-993-5220) to schedule a campus tour and an interview. I firmly believe that the best way to understand the strength of this community is to visit us in person and to see us in action. In addition, I hope you will find the time to get to know us better as we travel to a town near you this fall. For more information about our Town Coffee Series, fall Open House and on campus Curriculum Night please consult our admission calendar.
All the best,
Stephen W. Carr Jr. (Class of 1993)
