The Belmont Hill community gathered for a recent School Meeting to hear a short concert of music performed by some of the talented music faculty and students. The audience was treated to a lively performance of Miles Davis's Four by a quartet of the private lesson teachers including Ian Carroll (tenor saxophone), Rich Greenblatt (drums), Matthew Wright (bass), and Dan Loschen (piano).
For the second selection, this group of teachers was joined by three senior musicians, Tucker Gordon (trumpet), Kyle Wheeler (baritone saxophone) and Chris Bean (drums), while Mr. Greenblatt moved over from the drums to the vibraphone. The full septet performed an arrangement of The Jody Grind by Horace Silver, which included solos by Tucker Gordon, Mr. Carroll, and Mr. Greenblatt. As we look forward to a year of many concerts and recitals featuring our student ensembles and soloists, it was a rare treat to start off with an impressive demonstration by their teachers.
Belmont Hill is a private school for boys in grades 7-12.
